NFO Launch Communication Agency for Mutual Funds, and Product Launch Creative for Insurers
What is an NFO launch communication engagement?
An NFO launch communication engagement is a fixed-window project in which an agency designs and produces everything an AMC needs to tell investors and distributors about a new scheme, from the first teaser to the post-close thank-you. The scheme’s name, category, objective and risk profile are set by the AMC in the scheme information document and key information memorandum. The agency turns those documents into communication a distributor can present and an investor can understand, without adding claims the documents do not support.
It differs from a brand campaign in three ways. The subscription window is fixed, so there is no second launch date. The content is governed by SEBI’s advertising code, so every piece carries mandatory elements. And the audience is split: distributors must be equipped before investors are addressed, so the pack is built distributor-first.
Yamm Labs runs these engagements as part of its Content and Campaign Design service line, described on the fintech branding agency in India page.
What does an insurance product launch need that a general campaign does not?
An insurance product launch shares the fixed-window pressure of an NFO but adds three requirements that a general consumer campaign does not have.
- IRDAI review. IRDAI’s advertising regulations govern what an insurance advertisement may claim and how benefits, exclusions and conditions are disclosed. The insurer’s compliance function reviews creative against these rules, and the agency plans for that review rather than treating it as a final check.
- Product disclosures. Product names, benefit descriptions, premium illustrations and the standard disclosure lines must match the filed product. Creative that simplifies a benefit for effect will be sent back. The design task is to make the accurate description clear, not to make a simplified description attractive.
- Distributor materials. Insurance is sold through agents, bancassurance partners, brokers and online aggregators. Each channel needs its own material: a pitch deck and one-page product summary for agents, a bank-branch kit for bancassurance, a digital asset set for aggregators. A general campaign has one audience; an insurance launch has four or five.
The pack is timed to the distribution calendar, not only to the product approval date.
What deliverables are in a launch pack?
The exact list is scoped per launch, but a full pack usually includes the following.
| Deliverable | What it does |
|---|---|
| Launch concept and key visual | The single idea and image that every other piece carries; built around the scheme or product’s actual objective |
| KIM/SID-aligned core creative (NFO) or product-filing-aligned creative (insurance) | Print, digital and outdoor adaptations of the concept in which every claim traces back to the offer document or filed product |
| Distributor and sales deck | A presentation for distributors, relationship managers, agents or bancassurance staff explaining the product, the audience it suits and how to present it |
| Explainer video | A short film, usually animated, that explains the scheme or product in plain language; see our post on fintech explainer videos |
| Social content set | Teaser, launch and reminder posts with mandatory elements built into the templates |
| Emailers | Distributor and investor sequences for pre-launch, open window and close |
| Microsite or landing page | A single page carrying the product story, documents and call to action |
| PR-ready creative | Press-release visuals, leadership quote cards and media kit assets |
| Internal launch kit | Screensavers, branch and office material, and a one-page brief so every employee can describe the product the same way |
The full task list an AMC’s marketing team works through, including items outside the agency’s scope, is in our NFO launch marketing checklist.
How does the 30-day NFO timeline run?
The NFO subscription window is set by SEBI’s rules and the AMC’s own plan, so the agency works backwards from the open and close dates. Our checklist post organises the work into three phases; here is the structure.
- Pre-launch. Brief and offer documents received; concept and key visual agreed; distributor deck and internal kit produced first so that the sales side is ready before any investor-facing creative appears; explainer video scripted and in production; microsite built; all creative through compliance review. This phase carries most of the work.
- Launch window. Investor-facing creative goes live on the open date. Social, emailers and digital run on a planned cadence; distributor reminders go out mid-window; questions from the field are answered with approved material rather than improvised responses.
- Post-launch. Close-of-window communication, thank-you and allotment messaging, and a handover of the templates so the AMC’s team can produce the ongoing scheme communication that follows an NFO.
How is compliance handled?
Compliance is handled by building the creative with the compliance officer at each gate, not by sending finished work for approval. In practice this means:
- Concept gate. The idea and the language it implies are checked before design begins, so a concept that depends on a claim the offer document does not support is dropped early.
- Layout gate. Standard disclaimers, risk disclosures and the risk-o-meter placement for mutual funds are part of the design system from the first layout. For insurance, the standard disclosure lines and product identifiers hold the same fixed positions. Designers change the creative around these zones, not the zones.
- Adaptation gate. Each adaptation, from a social tile to a branch poster, is checked against the approved master so that a smaller format does not lose a mandatory element.
- Release gate. The compliance officer signs off the final set, and the agency keeps a record of the approved versions.
The client’s compliance function is the final authority on the rules in force. Our post on SEBI, IRDAI and RBI advertising rules sets out, in general terms, what each regulator governs in creative work.

Frequently asked questions
What is an NFO launch communication agency?
An NFO launch communication agency is a creative agency that designs and produces the communication for a mutual fund’s new fund offer: concept, distributor decks, explainer video, social, emailers, microsite and PR creative, built to pass SEBI review. Yamm Labs provides this service for AMCs from Gurugram, as part of its Content and Campaign Design line for BFSI companies.
Does Yamm Labs also handle insurance product launches?
Yes. Yamm Labs produces product launch creative for life and general insurers, including IRDAI-reviewed advertising, product disclosure design, distributor and bancassurance materials, explainer video and digital assets. Insurance clients include TATA AIA Life Insurance and HDFC Life.
How early should an AMC brief the agency before an NFO?
Brief the agency as soon as the scheme’s name, category and objective are settled and the offer documents are in draft. The pre-launch phase carries most of the work: concept, distributor deck, video and compliance review. A 30-day plan works when documents and the compliance officer are available from the first day.
Who reviews the creative for SEBI compliance?
The AMC’s compliance officer reviews and approves the creative. Yamm Labs builds the work with the compliance officer at each gate, from concept to release, and places standard disclaimers and the risk-o-meter into the design system so that mandatory elements are never missing from an adaptation.
What is in an NFO distributor deck?
An NFO distributor deck explains the scheme to distributors and relationship managers: the category and objective, the type of investor it suits, how it fits an existing portfolio, the key dates, and the approved language for presenting it. It is produced before investor-facing creative so the sales side is ready first.
Do you produce the explainer video in-house?
Yamm Labs writes, storyboards and produces explainer videos as part of its Signal Strategy service line, usually as animation for scheme and product explainers. Scripts go through the compliance gate before production so that the final film does not need re-editing for a disclosure.
Can the launch pack be reused after the NFO closes?
Yes. The templates, video and microsite are handed over so the AMC’s team can produce ongoing scheme communication after the NFO. Building the pack on the AMC’s brand system, rather than as a one-off, is what makes this possible.
What does the AMC or insurer need to provide?
The offer documents or filed product details, a single decision-maker, access to the compliance officer, existing brand guidelines and templates, the distribution plan and channel list, and the launch dates. The faster these arrive, the more of the 30-day plan is available for creative rather than waiting.
Do you work with AMCs and insurers outside Delhi NCR?
Yes. Several Yamm Labs clients in asset management and insurance are headquartered in Mumbai and are served remotely from Gurugram, with in-person sessions when a launch calls for them. The agency also works with clients in the Gulf and internationally.
How much does NFO launch communication cost?
Yamm Labs quotes per scope after a first call and does not publish a rate card. The cost of a launch pack depends on the number of deliverables, channels, distributor segments, video length and compliance review rounds. Published market ranges and cost drivers are in the fintech branding cost guide.
