Free 15-Minute Brand Teardown: We Review Your Fintech Brand Live and Give You Three Fixes

Short answer: The free 15-minute brand teardown is a live video call in which a designer from Yamm Labs, a design-led brand agency for fintech and BFSI companies founded in Gurugram in 2017, reviews your brand against eight dimensions and gives you three prioritised fixes. You share your website, app or deck on screen; we talk through what is working, what is not, and whether the work ahead is a tweak, a system build or a rebrand. It is for founders, CMOs and brand leads at fintechs, banks, NBFCs, insurers and asset managers. It is not a sales call: no pitch, no quote, no follow-up sequence. Book it through the form on this page.

What is the free brand teardown?

A teardown is a structured review of a brand as customers meet it, done out loud. In fifteen minutes we look at the things a prospective customer sees in their first minute with you (the homepage, the app store listing, the first screens of the product, a recent ad or post, and if you send it, your sales or investor deck) and say plainly what they communicate.

We do this because most fintech brand problems are visible from the outside within a few minutes, and most teams cannot see them from the inside. The founder knows what the brand is meant to say; the customer only sees what it does say. The gap between the two is the teardown.

The review uses the same eight dimensions as our free Fintech Brand Audit. If you have scored yourself on that page, bring the scores; we will tell you where we agree and where we do not.

What happens on the call?

  1. Two minutes: what the brand is for. You tell us who the customer is, what they are being asked to trust you with, and which regulator you answer to (SEBI, IRDAI, RBI or none yet). We do not need a brand deck; two sentences are enough.
  2. Eight minutes: the live review. We share screen and walk through your homepage, app or product, one recent ad or social post, and your deck if you sent it. We talk as we go, scoring against the eight dimensions and flagging what a first-time customer would notice.
  3. Three minutes: three fixes. We name the three changes that would make the biggest difference, in order, and say which are quick and which need a project.
  4. Two minutes: the honest fit read. We say whether the work looks like a tweak, a system build or a rebrand, and whether Yamm Labs is the right kind of agency for it. Sometimes the answer is that you need a freelancer or an in-house hire, and we will say so.
  5. After the call. We email you the three fixes so you have them in writing. That is the end of it unless you ask for more.

Format. The call is on Google Meet or Zoom, with screen sharing. If you are in Gurugram or Delhi NCR and prefer to meet in person, say so in the form and we will try to arrange it. Fifteen minutes is the commitment; if the conversation is useful we do not cut it off at the clock.

What do we look at?

The eight dimensions below are the same ones in the Fintech Brand Audit, where each has a written 1-to-5 scoring guide and a prescribed fix. On the call we score them from the outside.

Dimension The question we ask on the call
Distinctiveness With the logo covered, could a customer tell this from the five nearest competitors?
Consistency Do the website, the app and the last three posts use the same type, colour and voice?
Trust signals Where are the registration numbers, named people, address and security posture, and are they where a customer decides?
System depth Is there a system below the logo (type scale, colour rules, icons, charts, templates) or is each page improvised?
Compliance-readiness Do disclaimers and regulator text have a designed place, or are they squeezed in at the end?
Memorability Is there one distinctive asset a customer could describe after a single visit?
Motion identity Do the product, the videos and social move in one recognisable way?
Channel coherence Do the app, website, ads, sales deck and investor deck read as one company?

Because we work almost entirely with regulated financial brands, the review is done with SEBI, IRDAI and RBI requirements in mind. A fix that would fail compliance is not a fix. Our guide to SEBI, IRDAI and RBI advertising rules explains what we are checking against.

Who is it for, and who is it not for?

It is for the person who owns the brand decision at a fintech, bank, NBFC, insurer, mutual fund, wealth platform or payments company: a founder, CMO, head of marketing, brand manager or product lead. It is most useful when one of these is true:

  • You are about to spend money on a refresh, a rebrand, a launch film or a new deck and want an outside view before you brief anyone.
  • Your brand has grown by accretion (each team added its own piece) and you suspect it no longer reads as one company.
  • You have a product launch, NFO or fundraise coming and need to know what to fix first.
  • You have scored yourself on the brand audit and want to check the scores.

It is not for the following, and we say so to save your fifteen minutes:

  • Businesses outside financial services. We can review a brand in any sector, but the value of this call is our familiarity with financial customers and regulators. A general brand agency will serve you better.
  • Pre-product startups with no live website, app or deck. There is nothing to tear down yet. Come back when there is a first version, or read the fintech startup branding questions hub in the meantime.
  • Anyone looking for a free design deliverable. The call gives you a diagnosis and three fixes, not mockups or a new logo.
  • Agencies and freelancers researching our process. You are welcome to read the audit page, which describes it in full.

What do you get?

  • Three prioritised fixes. Named, ordered, and marked as quick (your team can do it this month), medium (a few weeks with a designer) or project (needs a scoped engagement). Sent by email after the call.
  • A view on tweak, system or rebrand. The single most expensive mistake we see is a rebrand where a system build was needed, or a refresh where the positioning was the problem. We give you our read and the reasoning. How to rebrand a bank without losing trust explains the distinction.
  • An honest fit read. Whether the work needs an agency, a freelancer, a subscription design service or an in-house hire, and whether Yamm Labs is the right agency if it is an agency. See agency vs freelancer vs subscription for BFSI for how we think about it.

What you do not get: a proposal, a price, or a follow-up sequence. If you want a proposal after the call, ask, and we will scope it properly rather than quote on the spot.

How do I book?

Use the form below. In the message field, include your website URL and what you would like reviewed (for example “homepage and app onboarding” or “investor deck before our Series A”). Frequently asked questions

Is the brand teardown really free?

Yes. The 15-minute brand teardown costs nothing and creates no obligation. You get a live review, three prioritised fixes in writing and an honest read on what kind of work is needed. We offer it because it is the fastest way for both sides to find out whether there is a project worth discussing, and because not everyone who takes it needs an agency yet.

Is the brand teardown a sales call?

No. There is no pitch, no quote and no follow-up sequence. The fifteen minutes are spent reviewing your brand, not presenting ours. If you ask for a proposal afterwards, we scope it properly and send it by email. If we think you need a freelancer, an in-house designer or a different kind of agency, we say so on the call.

Who is on the call from Yamm Labs?

A designer or brand strategist from the Yamm Labs team who does client work, not a sales representative. Yamm Labs is founder-led and small enough that the person who reviews your brand on the call is the kind of person who would work on it. The same eight-dimension review is used at the start of every identity project we take on.

Can the brand teardown be remote?

Yes, and most are. The call runs on Google Meet or Zoom with screen sharing, so you can be anywhere. We work with clients in India and the Gulf, with international clients, and we schedule around your time zone. If you are in Gurugram or Delhi NCR and would rather meet in person, say so in the form and we will try to arrange it.

What should I prepare for the brand teardown?

Very little. Have your website and app open, and send a link to your latest sales or investor deck if you want it reviewed. If you have scored yourself on the Fintech Brand Audit, bring the eight scores. Be ready to say in two sentences who the customer is and which regulator you answer to. You do not need a brand deck or guidelines.

What happens after the brand teardown?

We email you the three fixes and our tweak, system or rebrand read so you have them in writing. That is the end of the process unless you ask for more. If you want a scoped proposal, ask and we will prepare one. If you want to talk about a specific decision such as a launch film, an NFO or choosing between agency models, book a 15-minute brand call.
