India has more than a hundred fintech brands competing for the same three seconds of attention on a phone screen, and most of them look alike: a blue or green wordmark, a rounded sans-serif, a stock photo of someone smiling at an app. A few do not. This ranking is our attempt, as a design-led brand agency that works only in fintech and BFSI, to say which fifty are doing the work well, in what order, and why.
What makes a fintech brand well designed?
A fintech brand is well designed when a stranger can recognise it, trust it and describe it after one encounter, and when it looks the same on a QR sticker, a KYC screen and a billboard. We score that with five dimensions, each 1 to 5:
- Distinctiveness. Does the brand own something, a colour, a shape, a name, a tone, that no competitor can use without looking like a copy?
- Consistency across product and marketing. Do the app, the website, the ads and the regulatory documents belong to the same brand?
- Trust signals. Does the design make the regulated entity, the partner bank and the safety of money visible without shouting?
- System depth. Is there a naming architecture, a typographic hierarchy and a component language that can hold new products, or is there only a logo?
- Memorability. Would a buyer recall the brand a week later, and for the right reason?
Two of these are about craft; three are about strategy. That is deliberate. In our experience, most Indian fintechs do not fail on the logo. They fail on what the logo has to hold up, which we have written about in fintech logo design mistakes and in the psychology of trust in financial brand design.
A financial brand is not the logo. It is what the logo has to hold up when the product list doubles.
The top 10 fintech brands in India by design

1. Zerodha
Zerodha is the most disciplined brand in Indian finance. The masterbrand is a plain wordmark; the products each have a one-word name (Kite, Console, Coin, Varsity, Kite Connect) listed on the homepage under a two-word promise, Invest in everything. That naming architecture is the design system: a buyer can hold the whole family in their head after one visit. Trust comes from restraint, and from a founder-led habit of publishing what most brokers hide. Where it could push further: the visual layer is so quiet that Zerodha Fund House, launched in October 2023, has little to inherit beyond the name. A stronger graphic signature would let the family grow without leaning on the founders’ reputation.
2. CRED
CRED proved that a fintech can look like a luxury house and still process bill payments. The identity was simplified to a single capital C, the palette is dark and sparse, and the copy on the homepage still reads as a membership pitch rather than a feature list. Its brand identity won an Indigo Award in 2019 and the system has held since, across app, film and the Kuvera by CRED endorsement after the 2024 acquisition. Consistency at this level is rare in India. Where it could push further: trust signals. A brand this stylised has to work harder to look safe when it adds lending and investing, and the black-card aesthetic can read as exclusionary in a mass market.
3. PhonePe
PhonePe owns purple in Indian payments the way a utility owns its colour. The 2021 identity work with Codesign kept the distinctive purple and redrew the wordmark for more balanced letterforms, which is exactly the right ambition for a brand seen mostly at 12 pixels on a QR stand. It appears on millions of shopfront stickers and looks the same on every one of them. Where it could push further: PhonePe has expanded into insurance, wealth and lending, and those products still borrow the payments identity rather than extend it. A sub-brand grammar, the way Zerodha names its products, would let the purple stretch without thinning.
4. Navi
Navi is the clearest case in India of a brand built to hold many regulated products at once: loans, health insurance, index funds and UPI sit under one name, one mark and one sentence of promise. The identity, designed by Codesign, is described by the company as sharp simplicity and digital-first clarity, and the August 2025 renaming of Navi Technologies to Navi Limited tidied the legal name to match the consumer brand. That is system depth. Where it could push further: distinctiveness. The palette and type are calm to the point of anonymity, and in a crowded UPI market a calm brand needs one unmistakable device.
5. ACKO
ACKO’s January 2025 rebrand, by Leo Burnett, kept the purple and replaced the logo with a mark inspired by the Möbius strip, a bold, minimal wordmark with a gradient. It is the most memorable identity in Indian insurance because it does not look like insurance: no shield, no umbrella, no family under a roof. The tone is quick and plain, which is what a digital-first insurer should sound like. Where it could push further: consistency across product and marketing. The film work and the policy documents still belong to two different brands, and insurance is a category where the boring paperwork is where trust is actually earned.
6. Razorpay
Razorpay is the B2B benchmark. The forward-leaning italic wordmark has been stable for a decade, the navy and sky-blue palette carries across dashboard, documentation and marketing, and the positioning line, India’s All-in-One Finance Platform, tells a CFO what it is in six words. Trust is high because the brand behaves the same on a developer’s screen as on a billboard. Where it could push further: memorability. Razorpay is respected more than it is loved, and a company that now sells payroll, banking and lending could use a warmer, more human layer without losing the engineering credibility.
7. Groww
Groww’s identity is built on a single decision, the doubled w, and a single phrase, Groww your wealth. Everything else is deliberately ordinary: clean type, generous white space, screenshots of the product. That ordinariness is a strategy. First-time investors are frightened by finance that looks clever, and Groww looks like a to-do app. The consistency between the app and the site is the best in broking. Where it could push further: it has no graphic asset beyond the wordmark, so competitors can copy the calm without copying anything protectable. A colour or shape it can own would close that gap.
8. Jupiter
Jupiter is the most visually confident neobank in India. The Jupiter 2.0 redesign of April 2024 moved the app to white and warm beige with teal, green and ochre, kept the Spacefire orange accent and used what the team itself called a Neo-Brutalist style. That is an unusual amount of design intent for a money app, and it is why Jupiter is remembered. Where it could push further: trust. A neobank does not hold the deposit, and the design has to make the partner bank visible and the safety obvious. Jupiter’s boldness sometimes gets in the way of that reassurance, which is the trade-off we score it down for.
9. Plum
Plum’s October 2022 identity, by Irregulars Alliance, is a lesson in dropping the obvious. The fruit symbol went; the wordmark was set in NaN Jaune Midi Black with rounded corners; the palette was named Plum Red, Plum Vision and Plum Promise. The result is an employee-benefits brand that HR teams recognise at a glance, which is rare in a category that usually looks like a broker’s brochure. Where it could push further: the marketing identity is sharper than the product, and group health insurance is bought on trust in the claims process. Bringing the design rigour into policy documents and claims screens would lift the trust score.
10. Pine Labs
Pine Labs rebuilt its identity in two steps: a new green and black logo with a double arrow in January 2019, replacing the orange and blue it had used since 1998, then a 2022 refresh with a flying arrowhead and the line Our platform, your move. The mark works at point-of-sale scale, which is where the brand actually lives. Where it could push further: Pine Labs now owns Setu and sells software far beyond the terminal, and the identity has not yet made room for that. A merchant-payments brand that wants to be a platform brand needs a system that can hold developer products without looking like hardware.
Ranks 11 to 50: the full table
The next forty, in order of our editorial score. Ties are broken by the trust and consistency scores, because those are the two dimensions that cost a financial brand the most when they slip. Design facts in the notes are drawn from each brand’s own site or a reported source; see Sources.
| Rank | Brand | Category | Score | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 11 | Paytm | Payments and UPI | 20/25 | Two-blue lowercase wordmark that has barely moved since 2013. Recognition is the asset; system depth is thin. |
| 12 | Angel One | Broking | 20/25 | The 2021 move from Angel Broking to Angel One is a textbook masterbrand reset: new name, three-colour palette, one app. |
| 13 | Upstox | Broking | 20/25 | Owns purple in a category full of blue and green; the arc inside the u carries the story of a cursive origin. |
| 14 | smallcase | Wealthtech | 20/25 | The all-lowercase name has become the category noun; the product’s visual language is stronger than its marketing. |
| 15 | Dhan | Broking | 19/25 | A Devanagari dha inside a green disc is the most Indian symbol in broking; the wider system is still catching up. |
| 16 | slice | Small finance bank | 19/25 | Lowercase slice survived the October 2024 merger into a small finance bank; the bank site is quieter than the old card brand. |
| 17 | Setu | B2B infrastructure | 19/25 | A developer brand that reads like good documentation; ownership by Pine Labs since 2022 has not diluted it. |
| 18 | PayU | Payment gateway | 19/25 | August 2024 identity by Conran Design Group: green for growth, grey for expertise, a dynamic U. Coherent, if safe. |
| 19 | Perfios | B2B infrastructure | 19/25 | 2023 rebrand with a flame-arrow symbol and a dark, green-accented site; it looks like the enterprise software it sells. |
| 20 | Digit | Insurtech | 19/25 | Plain sans-serif wordmark, amber accent and the line Making Insurance Simple; the promise and the design agree. |
| 21 | M2P Fintech | B2B infrastructure | 18/25 | One of the few Indian fintechs with a public brand-assets page: red as the primary colour, Ubuntu as the typeface. |
| 22 | Juspay | B2B infrastructure | 18/25 | Dark-mode site and the line Global Payments Operating System; confident, but the wordmark works harder than the system. |
| 23 | Cashfree Payments | Payment gateway | 18/25 | December 2024 refresh with the tagline Move Fast and a film ambassador; now louder than most gateways. |
| 24 | Zerodha Fund House | AMC | 18/25 | Launched October 2023 as a Zerodha and smallcase venture; borrows Zerodha’s restraint. Simple Funds for All Your Goals. |
| 25 | Policybazaar | Insurance marketplace | 18/25 | A marketplace brand built on recall rather than craft; PB for business shows a tighter sub-brand system is possible. |
| 26 | INDmoney | Wealthtech | 17/25 | Renamed from INDwealth; the capital IND prefix is a clever device, though the app carries more identity than the site. |
| 27 | OneCard | Credit card | 17/25 | The black metal card is the brand; the lowercase wordmark and blue accents do the rest. App-to-site consistency is patchy. |
| 28 | Ditto | Insurance advisory | 17/25 | Born from the Finshots newsletter in 2021 and backed by Zerodha; the tone of voice is the identity, visuals are secondary. |
| 29 | Scripbox | Wealthtech | 17/25 | Orange in a blue category, held steadily for years; a grown-up brand that could afford to be braver. |
| 30 | Jar | Savings and gold | 16/25 | A one-word name and a one-line idea, daily gold savings; the identity has not yet grown beyond the app. |
| 31 | Niyo | Neobank | 16/25 | Zero-forex travel cards gave Niyo a clear job; the visual identity still trails the clarity of the product. |
| 32 | MobiKwik | Payments and wallet | 16/25 | A 2009 wallet brand, listed in 2024; consistent for a long time, but consistency alone has not produced distinctiveness. |
| 33 | Paytm Money | Broking and investing | 16/25 | Inherits the Paytm masterbrand and the line Invest smarter. Trade better.; the sub-brand rarely gets its own voice. See disclosure. |
| 34 | Khatabook | SME software | 16/25 | Red mark with a ledger-book icon and the Hinglish line Business hua (aur bhi) easy; it talks to merchants in their register. |
| 35 | Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund | AMC | 16/25 | Group red and the ABC mark since the 2017 Aditya prefix; strong on trust, generic on distinctiveness. See disclosure. |
| 36 | Zeta | B2B infrastructure | 16/25 | Lowercase zeta on purple; a banking-tech brand that is India-founded but now US-headquartered. |
| 37 | Kuvera | Wealthtech | 15/25 | Now styled Kuvera by CRED after the February 2024 acquisition; the endorsement line is the most visible design change. |
| 38 | Mirae Asset Mutual Fund | AMC | 15/25 | A Korean parent’s corporate identity applied faithfully; consistent, trustworthy, and hard to tell apart from other AMCs. |
| 39 | Dezerv | Wealthtech and PMS | 15/25 | A plain text wordmark and the line Your Trusted Investment Partner; polished, but affluent clients expect more signature. |
| 40 | Moneyview | Lending | 15/25 | Green logo and the Hinglish line Mann hai toh money hai; direct, but visually close to its lending peers. |
| 41 | BharatPe | Merchant payments | 15/25 | The Hindi line Bharat ki umeedon ke liye is the strongest asset; the merchant-app identity is functional rather than designed. |
| 42 | Uni | Credit card | 14/25 | Black site, gold card imagery and the GoldX product; it has changed products more often than it has changed its look. |
| 43 | Signzy | B2B KYC and compliance | 14/25 | Uppercase SIGNZY on a blue gradient reads as security software, which is the right instinct, but not yet as a brand. |
| 44 | Freo | Neobank and lending | 14/25 | The 2021 move from MoneyTap to Freo widened the product but not the identity; it now leads with loans again. |
| 45 | KreditBee | Lending | 14/25 | Blue and white with a bee in the name; it says instant loans clearly and little else. |
| 46 | LazyPay | BNPL | 14/25 | Navy and orange, camel-case wordmark, PayU group parent; the name is memorable, the design is borrowed. |
| 47 | Decentro | B2B infrastructure | 13/25 | Blue accent, uppercase wordmark and the developer line Build into your platform; the identity is a template. |
| 48 | Kissht | Lending | 13/25 | Sapno ko kaho YES gives it a voice; the visual system has not been built around that voice. |
| 49 | OkCredit | SME software | 13/25 | Green wordmark with a circular tick and the line Simple, Paperless, Secure; clear utility, low distinctiveness. |
| 50 | Gullak | Savings and gold | 12/25 | Gold and warm-yellow palette, a plain sans-serif wordmark and the line Savings made easy with Gullak; the promise is clear, the identity is early-stage. |
Category winners
Ranking across categories flatters some and punishes others; a B2B infrastructure brand does not need memorability the way a UPI app does. So here is the best brand in each category, on the same five scores.
| Category | Winner | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Payments and UPI | PhonePe | Owns a colour, purple, at sticker scale and at billboard scale; the 2021 wordmark redraw made it legible at both. |
| Neobank | Jupiter | The April 2024 Jupiter 2.0 redesign is the only neobank identity in India with a stated point of view on style. |
| Broking and investing | Zerodha | Product naming (Kite, Coin, Console, Varsity) is the deepest brand system in Indian finance. |
| Lending | Navi | One name, one mark, one promise across loans, insurance, index funds and UPI; sharp simplicity by design. |
| Insurtech | ACKO | The January 2025 Möbius-strip mark and purple palette make an insurer look like nothing else in the category. |
| Wealthtech and PMS | smallcase | A lowercase name that became the category noun; the product’s visual grammar is copied across the industry. |
| B2B fintech | Razorpay | Ten years of one wordmark, one palette and one positioning line across dashboard, docs and marketing. |
Two near-misses worth naming. Plum would win a benefits-insurance category on its own. Setu would win a developer-brand category, and it is the brand we would show a B2B founder who thinks design does not matter in infrastructure.
Six principles the top brands share
1. They own one thing
PhonePe owns purple. Groww owns a doubled letter. Dhan owns a Devanagari character. CRED owns a single capital C. None of the top ten tries to own three things at once. In a market where most identities are blue, green and rounded, one owned asset is worth more than a full palette of borrowed ones. We covered the colour side of this in colour psychology for financial brands.
2. They name products, not features
Zerodha’s Kite, Coin and Varsity; ACKO’s plain product lines; Navi’s one-word sub-products. A named product can be remembered, recommended and searched for. A feature list cannot. This is the difference between system depth of 5 and system depth of 3 in our scores, and it is the cheapest upgrade most fintechs can make.
3. The app and the ad are the same brand
Groww, Razorpay and Navi score 5 on consistency because a user who sees the ad and then opens the app does not feel a change of company. Several brands lower in the table have excellent campaigns and unrelated products. In regulated finance that gap is not cosmetic; it is where a customer decides whether the marketing was honest.
4. Restraint reads as trust
Zerodha, Razorpay and Navi are calm to the point of plainness, and they hold the three highest trust scores in the list. Trust in finance is signalled by what a brand chooses not to do: no countdown timers, no exclamation marks, no promises in the headline that the small print takes back. We wrote the longer argument in how to rebrand a bank without losing trust.
5. Rebrands are done once and explained in public
The rebrands we rate highly, Angel One in 2021, Plum in 2022, Perfios in 2023, PayU in 2024, ACKO in 2025, were each announced with a reason, a named agency and a clear before-and-after. The rebrands we rate poorly are the ones nobody announced, where the logo drifted a little every year and the customer was never told why.
6. The identity is built to hold the next product
PhonePe, Navi and CRED each added regulated products after the identity was set, and the ones that scored best on system depth were the ones whose identity already had room. Navi’s single-brand architecture and Zerodha’s product-name family were designed for expansion; several brands in the bottom twenty were designed for one product and are now stretching.
The cheapest brand decision a fintech can make is to name its products before it names its features.
How we scored, and the limits of this ranking
Method. We built a list of fifty operating Indian fintech and digital-finance brands across payments, neobanking, lending, broking, wealthtech, insurtech, digital-first asset managers, B2B infrastructure, cards, savings and SME software. For each brand we visited the official homepage or app listing in September 2026, noted the category and headquarters city, and recorded only design facts that are visible on the brand’s own site or reported by a source we could cite. We then scored each brand 1 to 5 on the five dimensions above. The scores are the editorial judgement of the Yamm Labs design team. They are opinion, not measurement.
What the scores are not. They are not a measure of business performance, product quality, app ratings, funding or user numbers, and we deliberately ignored all of those. A brand can be beautifully designed and commercially weak, or the reverse. They are also not a measure of regulatory compliance; that is a separate discipline we cover in the SEBI, IRDAI and RBI advertising rules.
Limits. Five people scoring from public material will disagree with five other people. We did not review internal brand guidelines for any brand, so system depth is inferred from what is visible. Where a brand’s primary colour or wordmark could not be confirmed from its site or a citable source, we left the fact out rather than guess, which is why some notes in the table are shorter than others. We excluded Fi, which discontinued its banking services in March 2026 according to The Paypers, and Google Pay, which is not an Indian brand. Zeta is included because it was founded in India, though it is now headquartered in the United States. Brands change; this page will be re-scored annually.
Disclosure. Two brands in this list are Yamm Labs clients: Paytm Money and Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund. They were scored on the same public dimensions as every other brand, no client material was used, and neither appears in the top 10. No brand paid to be listed, and no brand was told about its score in advance.
Disagree? Founders, brand heads and designers who think we have a brand in the wrong place should write to info@yammlabs.com with the public evidence. We will read every reply and correct the record where we were wrong.
If you want to see where your own brand would land, the Fintech Brand Audit scorecard uses the same five dimensions. For a wider view of who does this work well in India, see the best fintech branding agencies in India.
People also ask
Which Indian fintech has the best brand design in 2026?
In our editorial scoring, Zerodha has the best fintech brand design in India in 2026, with 24 out of 25. It wins on consistency, trust and system depth: a plain wordmark, one-word product names (Kite, Coin, Varsity) and a two-word promise, Invest in everything. CRED ties on points with a more stylised identity. Both are opinions of Yamm Labs, not measured outcomes.
How were the 50 best fintech brands in India scored?
Each brand was scored 1 to 5 on five dimensions: distinctiveness, consistency across product and marketing, trust signals, system depth and memorability, for a total out of 25. Scores are the editorial judgement of the Yamm Labs design team, made from public material only: homepages, app listings, brand announcements and reported rebrands. No brand paid to be included and no client work was used as evidence.
Why is PhonePe ranked above Paytm for brand design?
PhonePe is ranked third and Paytm eleventh because PhonePe’s purple identity, redrawn in 2021, is applied more consistently across its app, merchant stickers and marketing, and it has kept a single wordmark while expanding into new products. Paytm’s two-blue wordmark is highly recognisable but the brand system beneath it is thinner. Both are strong on memorability; the gap is consistency and system depth.
Which fintech rebrands in India were the most effective?
The rebrands we rate most highly are Angel Broking to Angel One in 2021, which reset the masterbrand and app in one move; ACKO’s January 2025 Möbius-strip logo, which made an insurer look nothing like an insurer; Plum’s 2022 identity, which dropped the fruit symbol and named its own colours; and PayU’s August 2024 identity by Conran Design Group. Each is cited in the Sources list.
Are Yamm Labs clients included in this fintech brand ranking?
Yes, two listed brands are Yamm Labs clients: Paytm Money (rank 33) and Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund (rank 35). We disclose this under the methodology section. They were scored on the same five public dimensions as every other brand, and neither appears in the top 10. No client project details or private material informed any score.
