A marketing head at a Manila digital lender types the question her borrowers type into ChatGPT: which online loan apps in the Philippines are registered with the SEC? The answer lists four apps. Hers is not one of them, although it holds a Certificate of Authority. Perplexity does name her company, but under an app name it retired last year.

Google AI Mode calls it a bank, which it is not. No engine is inventing anything on purpose. Each one builds its answer from whatever it can read about the brand, and what it can read is scattered, out of date and inconsistent. For a regulated firm in the Philippines, that is an AI visibility problem and a disclosure problem at the same time.

The short answer: AI engines name a Philippine bank, insurer or fintech when they can read clear, consistent and current pages that say exactly what the firm is, which regulator supervises it and what it offers. Getting named takes entity work, answer-first pages that already carry the disclosures the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, SEC Philippines or the Insurance Commission expect, and a monthly prompt matrix that shows where the brand appears and where it does not. Yamm Labs runs this remotely from Gurugram for financial brands in Manila.

How do AI engines answer “which bank, insurer or fintech in the Philippines” prompts?

When a customer asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google AI Mode which e-wallet, digital bank, insurer or lending app to use in the Philippines, the engine does not look up a ranking. It pulls together pages it can read, such as the firm’s website, news, app-store listings, comparison articles, directories and forums, and compresses them into a short answer with a few citations.

Three things decide whether a brand survives that compression. The first is whether the engine is sure who the brand is. A firm with a corporate name, a trading name, an app name and an old group name looks like four entities, and engines hedge or merge them. The second is whether the pages answer the question in words the engine can lift whole; a hero banner and a download button give it nothing to quote. The third is whether other sources agree. If the website, the app listing and the press describe the licence differently, the engine picks one version, possibly the wrong one.

The Philippines adds a fourth factor. Financial firms sit under different regulators, and engines blur them. A lending company registered with SEC Philippines described as a bank, or an insurer described as supervised by the central bank, is a factual error in a regulated category. Compliance will want it fixed first.

What we’ve learned across 320+ projects: the disclosure a compliance team insists on is often the sentence an AI engine trusts most, so write it into the answer, not under it.

Which Philippine regulators shape what a financial brand can publish?

The Financial Products and Services Consumer Protection Act, approved in May 2022, is enforced by the financial regulators on the firms they supervise; for banks, lenders and insurers, that means the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, SEC Philippines and the Insurance Commission. Each has written its own rules, and each one reaches into web pages, social posts and apps.

The Bangko Sentral’s financial consumer protection rules apply to the banks and non-bank financial institutions it supervises. They ask that disclosure, whether in advertising or in terms and conditions, be clear, concise, accurate, understandable and not misleading. Advertising must not omit key information that could change a customer’s decision, and the institution is legally responsible for every statement in its marketing material.

Advertising must also give the contact details of the firm’s consumer assistance unit, say that the firm is regulated and name the Bangko Sentral as its regulator. For digital products, fees, charges, interest and terms should be easy to reach, especially where they are usually buried behind scrolling or several screens. More complex products, such as investment products, need a key facts statement or product highlight sheet.

SEC Philippines supervises financing and lending companies, including those that lend through apps and websites. Its disclosure rules for lending and financing company advertising require the corporate name, the SEC registration number and the Certificate of Authority number in a conspicuous part of every advertisement and online lending platform, together with an advisory telling borrowers to study the terms in the disclosure statement before taking the loan.

The Insurance Commission supervises insurers, pre-need companies and health maintenance organisations. Its rules under the same Act ask regulated entities to show, on their websites, promotional materials and social media, their head office contact details, their consumer assistance contacts, a statement that they are regulated by the Commission with the Commission’s own contact details, and where they are legally permitted to sell. Advertising must not be false or misleading, and insurers must independently review promotional material written by intermediaries or any third party. An agency is a third party.

Whether an answer page counts as advertising is for your compliance and legal teams to decide. Our working assumption: any page written to be quoted to a potential customer passes the same review as an advertisement. The table shows what that changes.

What design decisions do BSP, SEC and Insurance Commission rules force on an AI visibility programme?

Many agencies call themselves compliance-aware. In the Philippines, that phrase should translate into decisions you can point to on a page.

  • The regulator line is text inside the answer, not a badge in the footer. Engines lift a passage and drop the page around it, so a footer badge gets lost. We write the regulated-by line, the consumer assistance contact and the entity details as plain text near the top of each answer page, and repeat the same wording in the organisation schema.
  • The registration numbers lead the lending page. For a lending or financing company, the SEC rules already require the corporate name, SEC registration number and Certificate of Authority number to be conspicuous. Those identifiers are also how an engine tells one lending app from another. We place them in the first block of every lending page and the app-store description, in the same wording, with the disclosure statement advisory below.
  • The fee sits beside the benefit. The Bangko Sentral expects fees, charges and interest to be easy to find on digital channels. On an answer page, that means the short answer states the key rate or fee and the main condition in the same two to four sentences as the benefit, with a link to the key facts statement or product highlight sheet. An engine then cannot quote the promise without the price.
  • Insurer review is a slot in the calendar, not an afterthought. Insurers must independently review promotional material prepared by third parties, so we batch pages monthly and book one compliance sitting for the whole set before writing starts.

None of these slows the work when they are decided on day one. Each one costs a rewrite when it is discovered on day sixty.

What entity work does a Philippine financial brand need before content?

The first month of a programme goes on the entity: making every public source describe the firm the same way.

That starts with one fact sheet. It holds the corporate name exactly as registered, the trading name and every app or product name, the regulator and the type of licence, registration or authority held, the SEC registration number and, for lenders, the Certificate of Authority number, the head office address in Metro Manila, the parent group, the founding year and the products actually offered. That sheet drives the About page, organisation schema, LinkedIn, the Google Business Profile, app listings, directories and press boilerplate.

Where a regulator publishes a list of the firms it supervises, the website should match that listing word for word. If the two disagree on the name or the licence type, fix the website first, because an engine treats an independent source as the tiebreaker.

Then look at who else shares the name: group companies abroad, a similar app in another market, a retired product name. Clear sameAs links and a consistent line such as “a lending company registered with SEC Philippines” or “an insurer regulated by the Insurance Commission” help engines keep them apart. If your customers ask questions in Filipino as well as English, publish the key answers in both, and keep one spelling of the brand name so the engines treat both versions as the same firm.

In a regulated category, the sentence an engine can trust is the one your compliance team has already approved.

How is AI search presence measured for a Philippine financial brand?

We measure presence on a prompt matrix, the same method set out on our AI visibility agency page for BFSI brands.

The rows are buyer prompts: the questions a Manila customer, broker or partner would type. Which e-wallets are regulated by the Bangko Sentral? Which lending apps are registered with the SEC? Which insurers offer a given cover for OFW families? We write them in the words customers use, in English and, where the audience uses it, in Filipino. The columns are the engines: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot and Claude. Each cell is scored Present, Partial or Absent, with a note on whether the description was accurate and which sources the engine cited.

Two rules keep the matrix useful. The prompt set stays fixed, so month-on-month changes reflect the brand, not the questions. And each market gets its own matrix, because an engine asked about the Philippines can draw on different sources from one asked about India or the Gulf. The matrix is re-run on a set day each month and read at 30, 60 and 90 days. Our own starting point, measured the same way, is public in the AI visibility log for day one.

We do not promise a position, because no agency controls what an engine says. A programme controls whether the engine has clear, approved material to draw on, and whether you can see what it does with it.

How does Yamm Labs work with financial brands in Manila?

Yamm Labs works from Gurugram, India. We have no office, licence or registered presence in the Philippines, and we do not claim a Philippine client. International work runs remotely from the Gurugram office, with calls and reviews set across time zones. Manila is two and a half hours ahead of Gurugram, so a Manila afternoon overlaps a Gurugram working morning and midday.

The method was built on Indian BFSI, where SEBI, IRDAI and RBI rules shape the same kinds of decisions: where a fund’s risk warning sits, how prominently an insurer’s registered name appears, how a lender states its rates. The clients we can name, among them TATA AIA Life Insurance, HDFC Life, Axis Bank, Paytm Money and Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, are Indian brands.

For a Philippine programme, your compliance team remains the authority on what the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, SEC Philippines or the Insurance Commission requires of you. We design the pages, the entity work and the measurement so their review is quick. If you want the basics of the discipline first, our GEO and AEO FAQ for financial brands covers them.

People also ask

Can a Philippine bank or fintech pay to be recommended by ChatGPT or Google AI Mode?

No agency can buy or guarantee a mention inside an engine’s answer. What a firm can do is make sure the engine finds clear, consistent and approved pages about it, then measure the result every month on a fixed set of prompts.

Do AI answer pages need the same disclosures as ads in the Philippines?

Ask your compliance team how your regulator treats web content. The Bangko Sentral, SEC Philippines and the Insurance Commission all require advertising to carry specific disclosures, and the Bangko Sentral and Insurance Commission rules also bar false or misleading advertising. The safe course is to treat any page written to be quoted to customers as advertising and review it the same way.

Why does an SEC-registered lending app get left out of AI answers?

Usually because the engine cannot connect the app name to the registered company. Put the corporate name, SEC registration number and Certificate of Authority number in text on the website and the app listing, and make every other source use the same names.

How long before a Philippine brand sees a change in AI answers?

Entity fixes can change an answer once an engine re-reads the corrected source, usually sooner on engines that search the web live; changes that depend on other publishers take longer. We read the prompt matrix at 30, 60 and 90 days and report what changed, including what did not.
